You would like to stop smoking

You say you enjoy smoking, but you know most of the time you don't. You hate the stale smell you can taste and others can smell. Each time you have a cigarette, you are reminded on some conscious or unconscious level, that it is harming you. You are self harming. You became addicted for one reason or another, and easily got into it, but are not finding it so easy to stop.

You don't like the idea that smoking controls you, and makes you do what it says you should do. You would like to be free from it. Released from it's clutches. It's a relationship that you find difficult to end.

There will come a day when enough is enough. You will pack its bags, tell it you are finished with it for good, never to darken your door again, and then throw it out the door and slam it shut.

That's when you might find someone like me who can help to to stop and stay stopped for good. It's your decision. What you waiting for?

Mindfulness

Is mindfulness  just an altered state of awareness? Does it mean that we just become more area of what we do and how we do it? If so, then mindfulness is just another way of promoting hypnosis because that is exactly what hypnosis does.

Random acts of kindness

As an antidote to necknominate drinks online, a man has come up with a better idea for us all to get into. This man nominates someone to perform random acts of kindness and see how many you can achieve in a day.

Something as simple as paying for someones coffee, car park fee, or giving a trolley with the coin still in. Its sounds a really nice way to making other people feel better and yourself at the same time. Win situation.

We could all be kinder to each other. It could be a great competition to see how kind you could be. I have read about big gestures, but it could be the simple things.I think I might give the Big Issue seller, especially the nice ones who say have a nice day even when you don't buy, some extra for him/her to have a coffee and cake

How can you trust a hypnotherapist?

One way you can trust a hypnotherapist is to make sure they have the correct training. Anything less than what is termed as the 'Gold' standard in training is what you would initially look for. The Hypnotherapy Practitioner Diploma is the Gold standard in training. A properly recognised UK certification from the National Council for Hypnotherapy will offer this. It is vital you do receive the best, is anything less worth it.

Look out for those therapists who display this kind of certification. A therapist who is also certified properly to use NLP will be best for you too. Some therapists think they have received accredited NLP training, but to be properly qualified, a therapist should have undergone correct training from an accredited trainer. Some trainers do not have the qualifications in NLP but train it anyway. To make an investment in therapy, you want the best because it pays off in the long run.

Extra strength non- deceptive placebo

Hypnosis has often been referred to as the placebo effect. Horizon programme featured hypnosis as the placebo effect, and demonstrated tooth extraction without any drugs.

Hypnosis is the ultimate placebo as the client is aware of what changes need to happen. Medical intervention using placebos rely on deceiving the patient, which is fine if it works. The reason is does work is that the Dopamines in our brain are activated and produce our own bodies natural pain relievers.

One thing the Horizon programme revealed is that the placebo works better if the GP or consultant is kindly towards the patient, and gives time to them. What a great world it would be if the NHS took this on board, and taught it to doctors and nurses. How to actually talk to a patient, say the right words, which could take less than a minute.

How would you prefer to be spoken to?

' Here are the drugs you need to take'

' I would like you to take this medication. I am sure it is going to be of great benefit to you, and that you will get better really quickly'

Stopping smoking reduces stress (Daily Mail)

Stopping smoking does reduce stress. Smoking causes depression and anxiety. The vicious circle though is when you try to stop smoking, you become anxious because you are addicted to smoking. The news is that smoking can cause breast cancer. Have we become immune to all these scares? You mig be saying that you will take your chances on life. That's an option, but if you do want to live longer and not have a smoking related disease which are nasty to say the least, then you will want to stop smoking as easily as you can.

Try hypnosis, make sure you have enou sessions if you need them, and stop smoking once and for all.

How much is your relationship worth

Is your relationship worth £5 10 or 20? Morrisons had a wide shelf of roses all different prices. Is there an assumption that the worth of the relationship is worth what you pay?

Relationships will always be a work in progress. You can't take them for granted. When you do they start falling apart.

A friend told me that she found that some people only focus on the negatives in any relationships, and forget to look at the bigger picture. When people do this to you, they are not worth your time and energy. Cast them adrift, stick to relationships that are honest, communicate when things don't go so well, and look at the bigger picture.

Hypnosis helps IBS sufferers

Irritable bowel syndrome affects thousands of people, and it can difficult treating it. Medications may slow the bowel down or speed it up, but they are not treating the cause. So what causes the bowel to become irritated? Certain foods play a part, but what if constant anxieties trigger the bowel to begin with and then those certain foods irritate it even more?

Hypnotherapy research is now proving that receiving sessions of hypnotherapy does change the actions of the bowel by allowing the client to feel more relaxed and much less stressed. After the sessions, the therapist will give the client a Cd to listen to, thereby creating even more relaxation and self-hypnosis.

Why are so many people anxious?

I met a woman who had lived through the Second World War. She said they did not have time to be depressed or anxious, that there was no such thing as anxiety. I thought she was wrong. There certainly was a grat deal of anxiety, but maybe they just did not fully acknowledge it, and thought they just had to get on with life.

There are so many situations in life that cause us to be anxious. Yes there are many people in the world who are worse off than us, but it does not alter hope we feel inside.

Unless we alter how we think and feel inside, we stay the same.

How to transform yourself

How do you transform yourself, and what in to? You may be thinking that if you did not feel so negative, or could be more spontaneous, or even enjoy more fun in life, then that would transform you.

You think you are stuck with old habits and behaviours, but that is not true. What is true is that your thinking has become habitual, and you don't know how to change it. Consciously you want to quite naturally, but unconsciously that old programme keeps running. Metaphorically you want to re-boot your brain.

So imagine that you could do just that, and that your brain just needed filling up with positive thoughts. You would have to get used to thinking and feeling positive, and practice thinking that way.

Sounds simple? Well sometimes the most simple things work the best. Have a go for a day. Every day think of all the things you like to do and how you like to be. Anytime a negative thought enters your mind, dump it, delete it and continue timing good things. Notice how good you feel at the end of the day

Getting facts right

It's always good to read in the EDP that someone is interested in hypnotherapy, but one fact was incorrect. The UEA does not hold courses in hypnotherapy. What it does do is hire rooms out to companies who train there. Sadly some people believe that they are being university trained when that is not the case. Great marketing from a business point of view, but incorrect to make the assumption that it is a university course. Anyone contemplating studying hypnotherapy whether it is called a 'hypnotherapy' or 'clinical hypnotherapy' ( same thing), should do research in what kind of provider they are looking for. Some courses offer 12 days training for a year and then leave you to study on your own with no supervision. If the man in the EDP article wants to be trained properly and with real external accreditations, he should research the subject very carefully. What is now referred to as the 'Gold Standard' in hypnotherapy training, is the NCFE and National Council for Hypnotherapy. Anything less may not be good enough for clients.

Bring back the Waltons

I recall watching the Waltons American TV show in the late 60s. The show was about an American family living in the 1930s. Basically they promoted good beliefs and values. How many soaps these days do that?

Family life is all about beliefs and values, and sadly many kids are growing up thinking they have to be famous to succeed, or can let the government look after them. How can we return to real values and beliefs.

Doomsday for 'fat Britain' is closer than we think

According to Daily Health sciences, we are heading for doomsday for a nation of being grossly overweight.

It is not easy to stick to diets as such, but changing lifestyles for good can work. The one thing that hypnosis can do is to change your thought processes. Hypnosis deals with unconscious thoughts. If your cause of excess weight is emotional, then it is time to deal with your emotions, and make permanent changes in your life.

More young people are being treated for alcohol related diseases

Heavy binge drinking is proving that young people are invincible. If you can't remember much about a heavy nights drinking, your brain is suffering the effects of toxic poisoning. Your liver is the powerhouse of your body, treat it badly and it will fail you. If you can go for a week or a month without an alcohol, you will feel much better. If you struggle to do this, you are addicted to alcohol, and need help to get into control of it.

Phil Everly

How sad that Phil Everly has died through COPD. Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disorder, mostly associated with smoking. He was a heavy smoker, but it just goes to show that no matter how much fame, or money, n e you have destroyed your lungs, that's it really. You have to want to stop. It's no good saying you enjoy it. You may well do, but the enjoyment could turn to fear once you get some kind of disease from it. I think it is reasonable to fully know that if you fill your lungs and blood cells with nicotine something bad will happen to you a some point in your life. 74 is no age now, so I am sure if Phil Everly could have his time again he would not smoke.

If you cannot do it by will power, use every other method you can, as something will work. Never give up wanting to give up, before the cigarettes give you up!!
